Last night after my youngest Son’s football practice I noticed that my wife’s car was low on fuel. She drives a Honda Accord and we get great gas mileage compared to a lot of vehicles, especially “Old Blue” my Chevrolet truck. I pulled up to the pump and I did exactly what I always do, opened the tank, opened my wallet, inserted credit card, and began to fill the
vehicle. Now like most Americans I have become numb to the fact that gas prices have been on a steady increase since President Obama took office. He has done so many other things that have been catastrophic to our economy that I truly have allowed this one to go by the way side.

So I was standing there filling up my tank, and I began to stare at the screen on the pump. I was like a deer caught in the headlights. I just stared at the numbers getting higher and higher. But as I stared I had an epiphany moment. I realized just how much faster the SALE numbers were compiling versus the GALLON numbers.  Now I know many of you are thinking, gee Will this is a shock to you? The answer is no it is not a shock, I have been so distracted that I failed to comprehend how much of an impact this was having not only on the Dance Family economy but the Nation’s as well.

When I had finished pumping I had put $50.00 into the tank for a grand total of 14.931 GALLONS, which equal $3.349 dollars per gallon.  So I went home and I looked at the gas prices when Mr. Obama took office and they were $1.849 per gallon. Now not being the
math wiz my wife is, I took out the calculator and came up with the following:

Fill Up 11/01/2012- 14.931gal x $3.349 per gallon = $50.00 total

Fill Up 01/09/2012-14.931gal x $1.849 per gallon = $27.60 total

DIFFERENCE= $22.40

Now to set the record my wife does a lot of driving. Between schools, Horseback riding lessons out in the country, Publix, Wal-Mart, Soccer, Football and the list goes on and on. She uses about 5 tanks of fuel a month. Now based on the figures above we are currently spending approximately $250.00 in fuel a month for her vehicle. If gas prices were what they were when Mr. Obama took office we would be spending on average $138.00 per month.

DIFFERENCE=$112.00

$112.00 A MONTH! That’s $1344.00 annually. That’s $5376.00 over the life of his first
term. That definitely would have paid for our Disney Christmas, and then some!
