Governor Rick Scott  Florida's top elected official has been busy going over bills passed by lawmakers during the session.  His pen signals passage or defeat.  Of late, plenty of measures designed to help business have gotten his signature.   Scott 040512

Fred Varn, Leon County Commission candidate  Mr. Varn is running for Commissioner Akin Akinyemi's seat as one of two at-large commissioners.  The field is robust.  Mr. Varn will try to generate some good will by working year one, if elected, and donating his pay to various scholarship funds to help students.   Varn 040512

Lisa Sprague, Leon County Sheriff candidate  The incumbant wants another term as the County's top law enforcement official.  Ms. Sprague wants Sheriff Campbell's job.  We'll find out why.   Sprague 040512

More financial woes at FAMU  This time it's the athletic department that cannot seem to bring in enough cash to pay the bills.  Bad, bad, bad.

Underage drinking battle of the sexes  This is not very good news.  Young girls are drinking and driving at a rate that is nearing idiot young men; getting into wrecks, too.

Doctor's boards recommend changes  The idea is that too many tests, etc. are ordered too often.  Is this the beginning of the end of "defensive medicine"?

TaxMasters nailed  The TV promoted firm that promised to handle IRS problems for clients did little, if anything.  The price for the indisretions will be $195 million.
