Runners...Christians...Good people...UNITE!

May 4, 2013 will be The First Ever Run For Mercy event at Southwood.  It will feature the appropriate prizes for runners in various categories and the course is one, I am told, that runners have and will enjoy.

More important to me is the cause...Mercy Ministries.

This program is in its 30th year of changing lives and changing lives...one of the lives changed, perhaps saved, is my daughter's.  So, yes, this hits close to home.  Founder Nancy Alcorn birthed this program out of watching girls return to destructive and dangerous lives after going through the criminal justice programs or substance abuse programs.  Nancy believed there had to be a better way.  It all revolved around "Mercy".

Of course, the mercy comes courtesy of God and, His Son, Jesus Christ.  However, God uses people and people form organizations to accomplish His purpose in practical ways...Mercy Ministries is one of those places.

I am asking you runners (even walkers) out there to make the time for this important run.  The money will go to the new Florida home, in Santa Rosa, that will be built.  I want our hands all over this particular outreach.

It needs to be pointed out that Mercy accepts no government funds whatsoever and the program does not charge the young girls or their families.  The program helps girls that have eating disorders, unplanned pregnancies (you should hear from babies adopted through Mercy that twenty years later return to say "thank you"), addictions, self-harm, abuse, etc.

Look at the program and make a difference...whether you run or make a donation.  Mercy changes and saves lives.  On behalf of my daughter, Courtney, thanks for giving it some thought.
