When I pound out...OMG it means "oh my goodness!".

Wednesday, when I finished my show, I made a drive to Nashville.  My daughter was graduating a ministry program the following day.  The plan was to have dinner together on Wednesday, head to church, then prepare for her big day.

Some day I will share my daughter's journey, but not today.

I go back to north of Atlanta and my eyes starting to cross.  I was tired, plain and simple.  I usually have no trouble making long drives.  In fact, the drive to Nashville is relatively short by my standards.  You see I have been making cross country roadies since I turned sixteen.

My first solo was the summer of 1976 when I took my first car, a one-year old Opel Manta Rally, and drove from Minnesota to Arizona.  It was the first of many, many drives I made.  I think back and consider how times have changed...there is no way on God's green earth I would allow one of my children to do the same at that age.

But, I digress...I am driving this past Wednesday heading to the Tennessee border when I succumbed to by drowsiness.  I pulled off I-75 to fuel up and wandered in to purchase my first-ever "5-Hour Energy Drink"...the orange flavored one.

It stated to drink half of it for a little boost and the whole thing for full effect.  I needed the latter so down it went.  The label also stated that I would feel it in minutes.  I did not chug the thing...I had heard that they were not the tastiest of things and, orange of not, I was taking no chances.

I took my first sip...yikes, that was a taste that had to be not much different than dumping raw caffeine into my stomach. Still, I bravely finished what I started and within three or four minutes it was gone (chased with the help of a Mountain Dew Code Red).

O...M...G!

I was amazed at the impact this stuff had on me.  Let's just say that I had no more sleepiness issues.  I was wide awake...emphasis on wide.  There is not another circumstance where I would drink that stuff, but I will tell you that it beat the alternatives, all of which would involve me not being where I promised my daughter I would be when I promised to be there.
