A What's The Beef? caller stimulates a word search
The story of "Moses and the picnic" is not a seldom discussed entry in the Old Testament. It is the story of our first caller this past Friday during our weekly "What's The Beef?" segment and his assetion that the word "picnic" is racist.
Moses seems like a kind and decent man who, quite frankly, has racial issues that he is dealing with because he seems to view everything through the lens of racism. Before any of you counter, "But, Preston, you do not know what it's like being black!". That's true. But, a black person doesn't know what it is like to have all of your actions and reactions run through the filter of racism.
I have written and spoken often of this...a youngster acting suspiciously cannot just be a punk kid acting stupid. No, if he happens to be black it is because he is black that white people have fear enter his or her heart. I goes on and on and on. Blah, blah, blah.
I feel sorry for people - black and white - who live life through the racial reality they create in their own mind because it proves a distraction to true cases of racism which could prove helpful in moving racism further from the fabric of our culture.
